Issue:

The unit experienced high-pressure surge, causing it to trip and shut down—preventing normal operation. The customer reported that there was previously a gas seal leak at the secondary stage.

On-site condition:

Upon disassembly, it was found that: the third-stage bearing was severely worn; the third-stage volute was severely corroded; the impeller clearance was excessive; the diffuser guide vanes were damaged; and the second-stage gas seal was severely worn.

Maintenance plan:

Replace the third-stage diffuser, replace the third-stage bearings, replace the second-stage gas seals, install a sleeve in the third-stage volute, and adjust the impeller clearance.

Result:

After the maintenance, the unit's exhaust pressure reached the rated value, and all operational data remained excellent.
