Major Overhaul Case
Atlas 3P-10/6/6/6
Model:
Atlas 3P-10/6/6/6
Issue:
Starting in May 2024, the thrust face temperature of the booster unit’s third-stage thrust bearing has been steadily rising, reaching as high as 104°C by June 2025. Additionally, surge phenomena have occurred intermittently over the past two years.
On-site condition:
Oil pressure remains stable at 2.2 BAR, and the oil temperature of 45°C is within the normal range. All other bearing temperatures are normal. However, the thrust face of the third-stage thrust bearing shows unusually severe wear, with noticeable deposits of sludge and carbon buildup on its surface.
Maintenance plan:
The third-stage thrust bearing was replaced, and based on the equipment characteristics and operating conditions, the anti-surge PID parameters were scientifically adjusted, while the control logic was optimized.
Result:
The thrust surface temperature of the third-stage thrust bearing has dropped from 104°C to a stable 78°C! The air system is now operating smoothly and reliably, with occasional surge phenomena completely eliminated!
