RoyalTurbo Engineering undertakes the project of gas booster units supporting the world's largest single-unit power gas combined-cycle power plant.

Summary: In the third quarter of 2021, RoyalTurbo Engineering (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. successfully won the bid for the supply and service contract of gas booster units required for the 1500 MW Syr Darya Gas-Fired Combined-Cycle Independent Power Plant project in Uzbekistan. The project owner is Saudi Arabia’s ACWA POWER, while the EPC contractor is China Energy Engineering Group’s subsidiary, China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd., in collaboration with China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Fire Power Construction Co., Ltd. The design was carried out by Spain’s IDOM, and the project is located in Uzbekistan—a landlocked country deep within Central Asia, serving as a key transit point along the western extension of the Belt and Road Initiative.

The project features the world’s most advanced Mitsubishi-Hitachi H-type gas turbine, boasting the highest combustion temperature globally, the largest single-unit power output (500 MW), and unparalleled efficiency. It is paired with the world’s largest single-unit waste heat boiler and steam turbine generator set, configured in a 2+2+1 arrangement. Additionally, RoyalTurbo Engineering has supplied three state-of-the-art 5R3MSG14RCG/15 gas booster units from U.S.-based Ingersoll Rand, integrated with their electrical and instrumentation control systems. Notably, this particular model represents the largest single-unit gas booster currently available in the global industry.

 

 

This engineering project is technically and operationally complex. From the early bidding stage, the RoyalTurbo engineering team proactively developed comprehensive contingency plans and optimized solutions to address numerous challenges related to technology, business aspects, quality control, delivery schedules, and project localization. As a result, they secured the contract with the most competitive and effective proposal.
