Issue:

During startup, excessive vibration triggers a shutdown.

On-site condition:

The boost end of the expander is severely damaged, with the impeller scraping against the pressure cover. Additionally, the thrust surfaces of both the boost-end and expansion-end bearings show scuffing, and the oil-gas seals are compromised.

Maintenance plan:

Replace the impeller, replace the bearing, replace the oil-gas seal, perform rotor dynamic balancing verification, and adjust the impeller clearance.

Result:

The commissioned unit is operating normally, with vibration levels below 4 μm.
